O How He Loves Us

He is jealous for me;
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy.
And all of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful you are and how great your affections are for me.

We are His portion and He is prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes.
If His grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
Heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets when I think about the way…

That He loves us
Oh, how He loves us
Oh, how He loves us
Oh, how He loves.

It’s easy to forget that God loves us.

He loves us.

Whenever we forget we are so greatly loved, let us gaze at the Son in the humility of the cross, for “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).  And let us bend and sink beneath the weight of His grace, delighting in His exaltation above every name, knowing that He is our glorious inheritance forever.  O how He loves us!

Question:  Do you ever forget how beloved you are by God?

For me, a lot of the times the question is "do you ever REMEMBER how beloved I am by God?" I am so prone to forgetting, not intentionally or out of a misconception of God's character; I forget because I get so caught up in the day-to-day seemingly urgent stuff of this life and forget to meditate on the cross and the love showed on it. Sad.

Thanks for reminding me to look to the cross, delight in God, and remember that he DOES love me!

all too often I forget and look to other things, people, experiences to fill that void when in reality He is always there and is not a high priest who cannot identify with all of our suffering. Thanks for the reminder CT.

Ben, thanks for the link. Always cool to hear the back story on compelling songs. I wasn't familiar with JMM until this song, but I'm now aware =). Thanks again…

Thank you Chris. Wait until you hold your baby in your arms . . . .

Mine is a simple faith. I need only look out the window and see all the glorious things that God has given my eyes, ears and mind to feast upon and I know that I am included, if not lifted above all of it!

(DCB is a most favorite group as well as this particular song. Ben, I am off to read your post.)
