Why…

Write?

Create?

Speak?

Sing?

Paint?

Draw?

Film?

Shape?

We ______ to express ourselves.

Why should we express ourselves?

Because we want to share with the world what we value most.

Why should we share with the world what we value most?

Because it fulfills our unique sense of purpose.

Why should we seek our sense of purpose?

Because we are “created in Christ Jesus for good works…that we should walk in them” (Eph 2:10).

Why should we walk in these good works?

So that “whatever [we] do, [we] do it all for the glory of God” (1 Cor 10:31).

Asking the “why” question always leads back to the One who gave us the ability to ask the question.  Maybe that’s the point.

Question:  Why do you ______?

Thanks CT I needed to read that today!

Why, that is the truth and so perfectly understanding.
Thank you for the answer to why!

Really excellent Post! Everything we do should come back to "Why." The "why" is the reason for Mission Statments, Vision Statements, Focus Groups, etc. Everything we do should be focused on "why".

And, of course, the ultimate reason why is always Jesus Christ and his everlasting love for us! Thanks Seth!

    Why do I write?
    1) Because God gave me the ability to write and it wouldn't be honoring to him to not use it.
    2) Because I would go nuts and end up as a brainless zombie if all I did was laundry and cooking and cleaning and didn't get to write.
    3) Because it helps me to wrestle through the questions of life and draws me closer to God.
    4) Because it helps point people to God. So many people who have read my novel, stories&blog posts on my writing review site have said that my writing made them think about God and what makes life valuable in his eyes.
    5) Because God gave all of us the ability to be creative and we need to use it. After all, we are made in His image and He is the ultimate Creator.
    6) Because the beauty of artistry combates the ugliness and evil in our world.

I am loving this post. So simple yet so deep.

I write because I can't live without writing. God has given me the gift to use for him, and not just for myself. I too, feel a closeness to God that is indescribable. Ultimately, I write to tell of how beautiful Jesus is because he deserves it all.

By the way Chris, I received two copies of your book. I gave one to a friend from California. I've read chapter 1 and it's so well written and I love the connections you make. I will have lots more to say after I continue to read each chapter. Thanks again for the opportunity.
